A Detailed Introduction for Hypertensive Nephropathy Complications

Hypertensive nephropathy is kidney dysfunction caused by persistent high blood pressure. This is a common form of renal disease and is a frequent cause of damage so severe that the patient requires renal dialysis to take over for failing kidneys. There are some measures available to prevent hypertensive nephropathy, or to address the damage early to improve quality of life for the patient. Some introductions in detail are as follows:
Severe edema
Patients with Hypertensive Nephropathy usually have edema which may distribute in the whole body. Severe one may also accompany with oliguria, high blood pressure and mild azotemia. Hence, we know edema especially the severe edema is another obvious complications besides high blood pressure.
Urine change
Proteinuria and hematuria appear along with the increase of nocturna. Hypertensive Nephropathy is easy to develop into renal failure gradually if his proteinuria and hematuria can’t be controlled in the early stage. Urine change also contributes to Hypertensive Nephropathy complications.
Hypoproteinemia
As a lot of protein discharges out of the body, patients’ plasma proteins will reduce. In the severe cases, their plasma protein will less than 10g/L.
Headache
Headache, one common of Hypertensive Nephropathy complications, can be either temporary or continuous. Headache caused by high blood pressure can be remitted when patients’ blood pressure declines, while it may cause dizziness if the blood pressure reduces too quickly.
Vomiting
The vomiting in these patients is due to hypertensive encephalopathy, that is to say, it is also caused by high blood pressure. If vomiting appears, you should pay attention to your blood pressure measure.
Retinopathy
Hypertensive Nephropathy complications also include retinopathy. Blurred vision, retinal hemorrhage or retinal ooze blood will appear with the progression of patients’ condition.
From above, we can see most of these complications are caused by high blood pressure, so control of high blood pressure is central to the management of Hypertensive Nephropathy. In our daily life, we should pay attention to high blood pressure.
